Trillian

Trillian is a multiprotocol instant messaging application that allows the user to connect to various IM systems such as AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and ICQ from one platform. It is not a separate messaging service, it is a Unified Messaging Service which allows users to chat "cross-platform", without needing to open up software for each IM service. It does, however, require the user to have an account (user ID) for each client.
Trillian also allows access to the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network.

The program represents each client with a different-colored sphere as follows:

  • Yellow for AIM
  • Green for ICQ
  • White for IRC
  • Blue for MSN Messenger
  • Red for Yahoo! Messenger

... that the program was named after Trillian, a character in "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams?
